Eberswalde: Head of the building department Anne Fellner is taking early retirement
Eberswalde.A shock for the city of Eberswalde! Anne Fellner, the committed first councilor and head of the building department, applied for early retirement on November 5th. The reason? A serious cancer diagnosis that she received in the summer of 2024. She courageously decided to fight the disease resolutely and undergo an important operation. She is currently on the road to recovery.
Since 2010, Fellner has led the city's fortunes in the construction and urban development sector with passion and expertise. She took on her responsibility as general deputy to the mayor in 2016, followed by her appointment as first alderman in 2021. “The development of our city is close to my heart,” she emphasizes. But now she sees the need for a generational change and wants to place responsibility in new hands. “It will be difficult to meet the challenges of the future with the usual energy,” said Fellner.
Transition and future
But the end of her term of office is not the last chapter! Anne Fellner plans to return to her office on January 2, 2025. She will shape the transition together with Mayor Götz Herrmann, because “there are still a lot of balls in the air that need to be played.” Herrmann is grateful for her return and the opportunity to benefit from her years of experience. “We will shape a transition together,” he says optimistically.
