Vandalism before the opening: New bridge in Adlershof already sprayed!
A scandal that shakes Berlin! The brand new Hilde Archenhold Bridge, which was Berlin's first aluminum bridge to be built at a whopping 11 million euros, was already hit by vandals before its official opening. Graffiti and colorful blobs of paint adorn the almost 74 meter long structure, which is not scheduled to be officially inaugurated until November 18th. The first “artists” apparently did not allow themselves to be deterred from breaking through the construction site fences and “creatively” designing the expensive structure.
The Senate Transport Administration is irritated by the incidents and emphasizes that the barriers are regularly renewed to prevent unauthorized entry. But the curious keep finding gaps in the construction fence. On the opening day, high-ranking politicians such as Building Senator Christian Gaebler and Transport Senator Ute Bonde will be there to appreciate the bridge project. But what awaits them is a daubed building that leaves a anything but glamorous first impression.
Bridge connects Adlershof and Johannisthal
The bridge was built in January with great effort and is intended not only to better connect the two parts of the city, but also to serve as a long-lasting, low-maintenance model for future projects. But before the authorities can take care of maintenance, they first have to deal with the onslaught of graffiti. The fight against the graffiti has already begun as the public eagerly awaits the official opening.
