Herford district/Minden-Lübbecke district. 86-year-old Traudel Möller-Böke is disappointed with Deutsche Bahn. After many years of regular trips from her home in Bünde to her sons in Berlin and Hanover, she now has the feeling that she is being discriminated against. “I still drive a car, but long journeys are no longer much fun for me,” explains the sprightly senior citizen in an interview with Neue Westfälische. Despite her continued mobility, she found the train ride on the last weekend in September particularly frustrating.
Another case that is also a topic of conversation concerns 92-year-old Frieda K. from Rödinghausen. Despite a telephone flat rate, she is faced with high costs caused by the use of call-by-call providers. Burak Tergek from the NRW Consumer Center in Düsseldorf points out that such problems are not an isolated case. It is repeatedly reported that users run into similar difficulties when using such services.
The record kisses
A completely different kind of record can be traced back to a kissing event in Bad Oeynhausen. On October 17, 1999, actress Andrea Suwa celebrated her world record by collecting 10,002 kisses in a row. The final kiss that secured this record came from fellow actor Maurice Karl. Before this memorable moment, there were already kisses from the mayor of Bad Oeynhausen, Gerhard Paul, and his counterpart Werner Hamel from Löhne, which initiated the record start. The event still attracts attention today and remains in the memory of many people in the region.
