Kochu Karu closes after 13 years: A farewell to fusion and enjoyment!

A culinary chapter is closing in Berlin! The innovative restaurant “Kochu Karu” in Prenzlauer Berg, known for its unique fusion of Spanish and Korean cuisine, is closing its doors after 13 years. Owner Bini Lee announced the surprising news on the restaurant's website. The combination of the flavors of both cultures has always delighted guests and catapulted the restaurant to the top of the gastronomic scene.

Kochu Karu was not only a place for exquisite food, but also an experience that celebrated the love of small plates and intense flavors. Under the direction of the talented chef José Miranda Morillo from Andalusia and Bini Lee from South Korea, fine cuisine was served that almost reached a Michelin star. Guests could choose between a five-course meal to share or an individual menu, making the restaurant a popular meeting place in the neighborhood.

A farewell with special memories

The last few months have seen an increased turn to Korean cuisine, while the beverage selection has expanded to include the traditional rice brew makgeolli. Bini Lee plans to return to South Korea to study at the Cunjinam Buddhist monastery, where famous nun Jeong Kwan, known from the Netflix series “Chef’s Table,” cooks. The restaurant will remain open until November 30th, giving fans of exceptional cuisine the opportunity to say goodbye to “Kochu Karu”.
