Fight for jobs: Schwedt's refinery in crisis!
There are worrying developments in the current discussion about the PCK refinery in Schwedt. Before the employment guarantee at the PCK expired, Brandenburg's Economics Minister Daniel Keller (SPD) expressed the expectation that the federal government would extend it and implement promised projects. Four days earlier, Keller emphasized that the failed sale of Shell's shares in PRAX had no direct impact on the refinery's operations.
A meeting of the task force for the PCK is planned for the beginning of next year. In this context, it was announced that the Joint Transition Fund would support the development of an “Innovation Campus” with 110 million euros and promote the adaptation of the district heating supply in Schwedt and the Uckermark district.
Criticism of unclear ownership structure
The Bundestag member Christian Görke (Left) criticized the currently unclear ownership structure of PCK and spoke out against the lack of planning for the pipeline from Rostock to Schwedt. Görke is calling on Finance Minister Robert Crumbach (BSW) to examine a possible state entry into the PCK refinery in order to secure supply and economic stability.
CDU leader Jan Redmann also expressed concern about the situation and described the failure of the sale of Shell shares as an alarming signal for jobs in the region. He criticized the federal government for the lack of sustainable solutions to secure the 1,200 local jobs and appealed to the Brandenburg state government to put more pressure on Berlin.
In addition, it should be noted that, according to the information from PCK, we strive for an appreciative corporate culture that includes honesty, trust and respectful treatment of customers and suppliers. Another focus is on the importance of error detection and evaluation to avoid damage, which is of great relevance to the success of the company, as highlighted on the company website. Their commitment to ethical behavior and compliance with competition rules is reflected, among other things, in zero tolerance for immoral behavior and corruption.
