Hesse plans drug checking: A way out of the drug crisis?
Hesse is on the threshold of a revolution in drug policy! Health Minister Diana Stolz (CDU) announces that the possibility of drug checking systems will be intensively examined. These facilities could help drug users identify dangerous ingredients in illegal drugs and analyze their concentrations. A crucial step, as many consumers often don't know what exactly they are consuming!
“The next steps for Hesse are currently still being examined,” explains Stolz and is optimistic! Compared to other federal states, such as Berlin, Hesse would be a pioneer in implementing such security measures, which would not only offer consumers information but also valuable advice.
Alarming drug deaths in Hesse
The situation is serious: In 2023, the police in Hesse recorded a shocking 119 drug deaths - a worrying increase compared to 97 victims the previous year and just 79 the year before that. Citizens are on alert!
It is primarily amphetamine, methamphetamine and heroin that cost many lives. The abuse of mixed drugs shows how dangerous handling the substances is. The urgency for effective measures is beyond question and could soon become a reality in Hesse!
