The 56th Würzburg Bachtage is imminent, a musical event that takes place from Thursday, November 21, to Sunday, December 1st and offers a varied program with some of the most important masterpieces of classical music. The experienced St. Johannis cantor Hae-Kyung Jung took over the musical direction, which has already taken care of the artistic quality of previous years.

At the opening, a lecture will be held on November 21 in the Toscanasaal of the Residence by Prof. Dr. Ulrich Konrad. On the violin, the moving pieces "O human, make correctness" from the Johannes Passion and the "Partita D minor" by J. S. Bach.

The musical program includes a variety of concerts that take place in various historical and cultural places in Würzburg. On Saturday, November 23, at 7:00 p.m., the Johannes Passion by Johann Sebastian Bach will be performed in the St. Johanniskirche. Under the direction of Hae-Kyung Jung, an impressive line-up sings, including soprano Magdalene Harer and the bassist Manfred Bittner in the role of Jesus. The ensemble is accompanied by the Bachchor Würzburg as well as teachers and students from the Musikhochschule Würzburg and Frankfurt.

Another highlight is on Tuesday, November 26th, before: The Freiburg Baroque Orchestra under the direction of Gottfried from J. S. Bach and A. Vivaldi will present again in the large hall of the Würzburg University of Music. It is expected that this evening is full of "fiery and passionate" interpretations.

On Wednesday, November 27th, the chamber choir concert with motet by J. S. Bach and Anton Bruckner will take place in the St. Johanniskirche, led by the chamber choir of the Würzburg University of Music. The vocal ensemble Cantica and the Bach choir Würzburg promise a solemn and contemplative evening.
