Pastor Heinz Röschert: A life for faith - farewell to Bad Neustadt

On October 7, 2024, the former pastor Heinz Röschert died at the age of 87. His life path is characterized by a long and committed career within the Catholic Church. He lived in Bad Neustadt until his retirement, where he spent his retirement.

Heinz Röschert was born in Schweinfurt in 1937 and entered the priesthood on March 11, 1962 when he was ordained a priest by Bishop Josef Stangl in Würzburg. He gained his first experience as a temporary priest in Retzstadt and Giebelstadt and as a chaplain in Ochsenfurt before he went to Munich in 1965. These early stations shaped his later tasks in different communities and in the diocese.

at the end of 1967 Röschert settled in Miltenberg and took over the office of parish in 1968. In 1969 he was commissioned to continue the catechetical training in the diocese. He also received the appointment for the Subregens at the Würzburg priest seminar. This role enabled him to significantly influence the training of future priests.

Röschert's commitment to religious education as a diocesan training officer and also served as a curate of Würzburg-Heilig Geist. His cooperation in the common synod of dioceses in Germany from 1971 to 1975 shows how active he was in church politics. Until 1980 he was also a school officer in the Deanery in Würzburg-Stadt, which underlines its versatility.

From 1976 to 1983 Röschert headed the seminary in Würzburg. During this time he was also appointed to several important church commissions. In 1983 there was another significant step in his career: he became a pastor of the municipality of Schweinfurt-Heilig Geist. From this point on, he also assumed responsibility as a dean's officer for priest training and theological adult education in Schweinfurt.

his last parish office took Röschert in Stockheim in 1999, while at the same time he worked as a curate of Ostheim/Rhön. In the 30 years, which he worked as a radio preacher at Bayerischer Rundfunk, he appeared especially at the morning celebrations. In 2008 he finally retired and spent the years later in Bad Neustadt.
