Winter traffic in Rosenheim: traffic jams and renovation of the Lueg Bridge are imminent!
Preparations for winter in Rosenheim are in full swing! The district office's “Highway Coordination Group” has come together to respond to the impending dangers of snow and ice on the highways. Long traffic jams, which can become a real danger in winter, should be avoided. The message is clear: Rosenheim is ready for the winter challenges!
Emergency plans for traffic chaos
The group has drawn up detailed plans to act quickly in the event of traffic congestion lasting two hours or more. Specific fire departments have been appointed to close motorway access roads if necessary. There are also lists of important emergency materials such as blankets, drinking water, fuel cans and emergency generators that are available in an emergency. Rosenheim leaves nothing to chance!
Renovation of the Lueg Bridge: Single lane through the winter
Another important point is the upcoming renovation of the Lueg Bridge on the Brenner Motorway, which begins on January 1st. This extensive measure will have a significant impact on the traffic situation, as the bridge will then only be accessible in one lane in both directions. However, in order to minimize traffic chaos on travel days, attempts are made to route traffic in two lanes. The Austrian highway operator has announced that no additional truck metering days are planned, but spontaneous block dispatches by Tyrol could become the norm during special events. So Rosenheim is facing an exciting but challenging winter season!
