Dispute over legal fees: Mayor under pressure in Gröbenzell!
In the center of an charged dispute is the mayor of Gröbenzell, Martin Schäfer (UWG), who has taken legal support at the expense of the municipality. This was done in response to personal attacks on his office, in particular on statements on social media that he saw as a personal insult. The municipal council has now decided that Schäfer will not be relieved as long as the amount of around 10,000 euros, which it claimed for legal services, is not paid back to the municipality. This decision was made during the meeting to determine the annual financial statements 2022, where the relief was only granted with one vote, since Schäfer was not allowed to vote due to his bias, such as reports.
The situation continues to escalate because the law firm, which Schäfer represented, is now taking legal action against the municipality in order to contest the claim for repayment of attorney costs. It remains unclear whether the attacks on Schäfer should be regarded in his function as mayor or as a private person. The municipal council, however, seems to be the majority of the fact that it should have borne the costs themselves, so reports Mercury . This complex legal discussion raises many questions about the boundaries between official and private affairs and will continue to be treated in an ongoing procedure at the Munich District Court.
