New biotons start in Fürstenfeldbruck: This is how the system works!

in Fürstenfeldbruck is a significant innovation in waste management. The waste management company (AWB) begins with the delivery of the new biotons, which are specially designed for the collection of organic waste. The first containers will be distributed from October 7, 2024, and from January 2025 the new mandatory pick -up system will officially come into force. This change is part of a long -term strategy to improve waste management in the region and affects all households that do not compost themselves.

32,000 out of 48,500 property owners have reacted to the request of the AWB, which leads to an order of 31,500 tons. Those who want can also use the biotons together with neighbors. A spokesman for the AWB emphasized that the decline in self -composters, of which up to 50 percent have been counted in the past, may be due to the fact that the new bio bin is included in the garbage fees.

Details on the bio bin and their use

The bio bin is primarily intended for kitchen waste, with some small quantities of non-woody garden waste being accepted. However, woody garden waste must continue to be disposed of otherwise. When filling the biotons, the households should make sure to use only biodegradable waste bags that are available in stores, since the AWB no longer provides sacks after January 1, 2025.

The first delivery takes place in Olching and continues for several weeks, whereby municipalities such as Emmering, Gröbenzell, Eichenau and Puchheim are following. On November 4th you start with the western communities and the last delivery date is scheduled for the city of Fürstenfeldbruck on November 18th.

Why organic waste is important

Biom waste is a valuable raw material for energy generation. It was originally planned to deliver the collected garbage to the Augsburg waste disposal association, but this option is no longer available. The AWB now sees the possibility of fermenting the biomass itself, but needs partners. Evaluation is currently underway to clarify the feasibility and the necessary steps.

The emptying of the biotons will take place every 14 days in the future. This is supported by special biofilter lids, which should enable more comfortable use. Citizens can view the empty rhythm in the absorption calendar from December.

The introduction of the biotons is in the context of a responsible waste management that not only wants to increase recycling quotas in the region, but also contributes to the reduction of residual waste. The details of the biotonne and further information can be found here .
