Erlangen on alert: Witnesses wanted for sexual offenses!
On Friday afternoon, July 26, 2024, a serious incident occurred in the Alterlangen district of Erlangen that deeply shocked the local community. A woman was the victim of a sexual assault that took place in a wooded area next to Georg-Krauß-Straße. Since then, the investigation has been in full swing as the Erlangen criminal police are trying to identify the suspected man.
The injured party was in Büchenbach around 3:00 p.m., where she met the alleged perpetrator. After a short walk together, which led them from Kosbacher Damm over the street Am Europakanal and into Dorfstraße, they visited a grocery store. After shopping, they crossed the Main-Danube Canal at Kapellensteg before the attack took place in the adjacent forest area. The woman was able to escape after the incident and a short time later met passers-by who alerted the police.
Investigations and search call
The criminal police commissioner has taken over the investigation and is working closely with the Nuremberg-Fürth public prosecutor's office. The officers have already collected numerous clues, interviewed witnesses and initiated forensic investigations. Despite extensive measures, the perpetrator remains unknown and no further clues to his identity have been found. This uncertainty is now forcing police to ask the public for help.
A wanted poster containing details of the incident has been created and distributed to the public. The poster can be viewed via a specific link on the Bavarian Police website. At this point it is emphasized once again how important any information could be that could help solve the case.
The investigators have set up a hotline that can be reached around the clock at 0911 2112 - 3333 to collect information. Every detail has the potential to be crucial and police are encouraging members of the public to come forward if they have any information about the incident or the unknown perpetrator.
Such an attack not only impacts the victim's life, but also casts a shadow over the entire community. Therefore, the resilience of the city of Erlangen and the cooperation between the police authorities and citizens is of the utmost importance. The joint effort could make it possible to restore security in the city and bring the perpetrator to justice.
