Dachauer Bahnhof: Large project redesigned for the IBA 2034!

Dachauer Bahnhof: Large project redesigned for the IBA 2034!

Dachau, Deutschland - In Dachau there is news about the train station. The city plans a comprehensive redesign and has decided to submit this large project at the International Building Exhibition (IBA). The special thing about this project is that the IBA is considered the "special format of urban and regional development" and the implementation takes until 2034. This decision was made unanimously by the city's and planning committee, which now wants to submit all the necessary documents until Tuesday to officially present the project.

According to information from www.sueddeutsche.de is the IBA Metropolregion Munich the first of its kind in Bavaria. Mayor Florian Hartmann (SPD) emphasized that it is now important to see whether the project concept can convince. Building director Moritz Reinhold had already presented the plans in July, and now the city wants to enter a new phase with progress.

financial challenges and prospect of funding

The city of Dachau is under pressure, however, since the reserves are expected to be used up by 2026. OB Hartmann has proposed to check the expenses and take austerity measures in order to stabilize the financial situation. Despite these challenges, the building authority believes that the project has good chances of funding. The IBA focuses on innovative projects that require integrated thinking, and the project in Dachau definitely fulfills these criteria.

The project pursues the goal of bringing several existing initiatives together synergetically. The central component is the renovation of the bus station, which is to be converted into an bus station. New offers for travelers are to be created here, including a bicycle parking garage. The aim is to establish the station into a "central mobility hub for the region" and to significantly improve the connection, especially with regard to the planned new residential area on the MD site and the old gravel pit.

planned infrastructure improvements

A striking goal of the redesign project is to create a new crossing of the railway line, which is intended to offer a secure connection for cyclists and pedestrians between the west and east side of the train station. In addition, a "turned bridge" is sought over Schleißheimer Straße to establish a cross -free connection. These infrastructures are intended to help to align inner -city traffic to local public transport and bicycle traffic.

As can be seen from the plans, new digital information and usage options for users of the transport offer should also be implemented. The city hopes not only to open new perspectives for the project by participating in the IBA, but also to achieve considerable growth and visibility through external expertise and funding.

The building manager sees it as given that participation in the city of the city benefits and that even if the submission should not lead to the hoped -for results, the attempt alone is already valuable to put pressure on the German railway in order to advance the necessary changes. "It doesn't cost anything to try it," says Reinhold.
