New life after violence: Sarah F. starts in her own apartment!
On December 20, 2024, attention was once again drawn to the challenges faced by women who have to flee their relationships due to domestic violence. Sarah F. was one of them who unfortunately fell victim to a violent partner. She was forced to move out of her home, which was documented by several police operations. She currently lives in a small apartment that she found in September. In this new accommodation she lacks basic furniture, as the furniture in the former house either belonged to her husband or was not available to him. To help her make a new start, Sarah F. received a donation of 710 euros from the “Help for Neighbors” initiative, which will help her buy a refrigerator, a washing machine and a bedroom wardrobe.
Call for donations for the Kienel family
Another sad fate is that of the Kienel family. Sarah Kienel has suffered a setback because, despite getting married in April 2011, she is not eligible for a widow's pension. The family's financial situation is precarious, as the monthly payment on the existing loan corresponds to the amount of housing for six children. Ernst Mayrhofer, who is coordinating support efforts, expressed concern: “Making a living for yourself and your children will be a big challenge.” In order to offer the family perspective despite these challenges, a donation account has been set up and every small contribution is seen as valuable help. “Let’s not just talk about charity, let’s act!” said Mayrhofer determined to mobilize support for the Kienel family in order to improve their living conditions.
While Sarah F. takes the first steps into a new life, the Kienel family fights to save their home. The commitment of the community and the willingness to donate are crucial for the new beginning of both families.
