Dieter Falk: Anniversary concert brings modern sound to the school church
The school church in Amberg is the focus of an exciting anniversary. A special concert will be held to mark the church's 325th anniversary. This will take place on Church Consecration Sunday, October 20th, at 5pm and promises to present traditional church music in a fresh way.
None other than the renowned composer and pianist Dieter Falk could be won for the upcoming concert. The Düsseldorf musician, who is known for his charming combination of jazz and church music, will be accompanied this evening by Daniel Rheinbay on drums. Together they will reinterpret church music in their distinctive Falk sound.
A musical bridge from the past to the present
The anniversary concert offers an extraordinary opportunity to forego traditional sounds and instead bring modern, dynamic musical elements into the church that reflect the zeitgeist of the 21st century. This is a welcome change from the usual baroque and organ sounds that are often heard at such celebratory occasions.
Dieter Falk is no stranger to the music scene. His impressive career includes numerous awards, including the Impala Award (Silver), which he received in 2006 for his instrumental production “A Tribute to Paul Gerhardt”. In it, Falk set the church songs of the famous Protestant song composer Paul Gerhardt to music in an appealing jazz and gospel style. His latest work, “German Songbook,” released at the end of February, takes a musical journey through the most famous German songs and showcases Falk’s talent for redesigning old songs.
During the concert, Falke will also take listeners behind the scenes of his 40-year career in the music industry. He is expected to share interesting anecdotes about his collaborations with great artists such as Harry Belafonte, PUR and Paul Young. Such musical diversity, combined with personal stories, will make the concert a unique experience.
Dieter Falk not only works as a musician, but also as a teacher. Since 2013 he has held a professorship for music production at the Robert Schumann University in Düsseldorf and has been active in the new course for New Sacred Music (NGM) at the University of Catholic Church Music in Regensburg since 2019. His commitment to training young talent underlines his passion for music and knowledge sharing.
With this concert, the school church will not only be a testimony to its long history, but also a place where modern music and traditional values come together. This event is an important opportunity for the community to come together in a special place and celebrate the musical diversity that Dieter Falk and Daniel Rheinbay offer.
