Police strike: 16 searches against child pornography in the Innkreis!

On Tuesday, November 19, 2024, the police conducted a large-scale operation in the Altötting and Mühldorf am Inn districts to search apartments that were suspected of being connected to child pornography. The investigators from the Mühldorf am Inn criminal police, supported by the Traunstein public prosecutor's office, carried out a total of 16 searches and seized data carriers, computers and cell phones. Narcotics were also found among the suspects, who are between 16 and 60 years old, and in some cases child pornography material was discovered during the searches.

Investigations under high pressure

The police have set up a “child pornography working group” in this sensitive area to combat the increasing number of cases. In 2023, 697 cases of child pornography offenses were registered at the Upper Bavaria South police headquarters, which represents a decrease of 3.3% compared to the previous year. Despite this decline, the number is still alarmingly high and investigators are doing everything they can to aggressively prosecute these crimes. The Traunstein public prosecutor's office also specializes in combating sexual crimes and works closely with the police to bring the perpetrators to justice.

The searches took place in several communities, including Ampfing, Mettenheim and Burghausen, and were made possible by court orders. The “Digital Forensics” officers at Commissariat 11 of the Traunstein Criminal Investigation Department supported the investigators in evaluating the seized evidence. The suspects were released after police measures were completed, while intensive investigations continue to clarify the background and distribution of the illegal content.
