Michelin donates 10,000 euros for children's cancer treatment in Karlsruhe!

An impressive show of solidarity from Michelin! The well-known tire manufacturer, which has had roots in Karlsruhe since 1931, recently made a generous donation of 10,000 euros to the support association to support the oncology department of the Children's Hospital Karlsruhe e.V. (FUoKK). This sum comes from various campaigns by the company as well as the committed employees and shows Michelin's committed heart for the region!

“We are very grateful to Michelin for this donation,” said Admira Knoll, the chairwoman of the support association, at the moving handover in the Center for Children and Women at the Karlsruhe Municipal Hospital. The donation will go specifically to an important project that provides for the financing of a part-time position for the psychological support of sick children, their parents and siblings in the oncology department. An indispensable step, because when you have cancer, in addition to medical treatment, psychological support is also crucial!

Competent care for sick children

The S24 Rainbow ward, which specializes in hematological and oncological diseases in children and adolescents, accommodates an average of 30 new diagnoses per year and is one of the largest non-university pediatric oncology centers in Germany. There are an impressive 16 inpatient and four day hospital beds available here, where the little patients are lovingly cared for. Christian Metzger, director of the Michelin Karlsruhe site and factory, puts it in a nutshell: “It is very important to us to support the important work of the treatment teams.” Attention to the psychological aspect during the often long treatment period for cancer is an important topic that is clearly brought into focus by this donation.
