The Schwerin brass band PotzBlech has achieved an outstanding success! Last Saturday the ensemble triumphed at the German Brass Band Championship in Göppingen, near Stuttgart. The victory not only gives the band the title, but also the opportunity to represent Germany in the upcoming European Championships. This will take place in Norway in May 2025.
The jury's verdict was based on three carefully selected pieces by the band. The judging was intense, and the final score determined participation in the European Championships. PotzBlech stands out among the bands as it is the only youth brass band in Northern Germany.
The members and their commitment
PotzBlech consists of around 40 talented musicians aged 10 to 19. These young artists are part of the Ataraxia art and music school and bring a colorful mix of instruments with them. The ensemble includes tubas, cornets, trombones, baritones, euphoniums, alto horns and drums - a versatile lineup that provides a wide range of sounds.
The victory underlines the commitment of the band members and the high level of their performances. The jury that evaluated the performances certainly noted that PotzBlech not only shows musical ability, but also embodies team spirit and passion for brass music. Such successes motivate the young musicians to continue to work hard and develop musically.
