Flood protection in Poppichl: 1.4 km of wall protects residents!

After two years of intensive planning and official processing, the settlement on the Glan can breathe a sigh of relief. An impressive flood protection wall, 1.4 kilometers long and up to 1.5 meters high, was successfully constructed. This project, which cost around three million euros, protects residents in 35 single-family homes from future floods. The funding is divided: 42.5% comes from the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, Climate and Environmental Protection, Regions and Water Management, 40% from the State of Carinthia and 17.5% from the Glan Water Association. The importance of preventative measures was particularly highlighted during the handover, when State Councilor Daniel Fellner emphasized the community approach and the need for protective measures to strengthen both the infrastructure and the trust of the population.
