Düsseldorf is rejoicing: electric buses in the EURO 2024 design are here!
Düsseldorf is going on the offensive to qualify for the NRW Mobility Prize! With the innovative concept of after-work parking, which is being implemented in districts 2, 3, 6 and 9, the state capital wants to prove that unused spaces can be put to good use in the evening. “These are areas that are intended for parking anyway and remain unused in the evening and at night,” explained Mayor Dr. Stephen Keller. Citizens have until December 12, 2024 to cast their vote for Düsseldorf and support the project with prize money of up to 15,000 euros. The finalists also include exciting concepts such as the digital map for large-capacity and heavy-duty transport as well as the on-demand citizen bus, reports RP Online.
Countdown to EURO 2024 with green mobility
The countdown to UEFA EURO 2024 is underway, and Düsseldorf is not only focusing on sport, but also on sustainability! On December 7, 2021, two emission-free buses from Rheinbahn AG were presented - in the eye-catching EURO 2024 design. “These buses are not only a sign of our anticipation of the big tournament, but also an important step towards climate neutrality by 2035,” said Keller at the presentation. The buses, which are now running through the city, are not only intended to reduce the city's ecological footprint, but also to warmly welcome guests from all over the world Düsseldorf.de.
With these initiatives, Düsseldorf is positioning itself not only as host to one of Europe's biggest football events, but also as a pioneer in environmentally friendly mobility. The city is ready to present itself as a climate capital while stoking enthusiasm for EURO 2024. Preparations are in full swing and the excitement is rising!
