The new Citroën C5 Aircross: Electrifying family flagship!

The Citroën C5 Aircross, the flagship of the traditional brand, is undergoing a comprehensive redesign that makes it a symbol of electrification in the automotive sector. As part of Citroën's 100-year history, which began in 1919, the motto "100 years later - Citroën electrifies the world" is prominently featured. The second generation of the C5 Aircross is now offered as a partially or fully electric vehicle, while the historical reference is not lost: in 1925, founding father André Citroën illuminated the Eiffel Tower with his own logo.

The dimensions of the C5 Aircross are impressive: 4,652 mm in length and 1,902 mm in width, making for a spacious family design. The interior design is well thought out and offers five passengers not only compactness but also a lot of comfort. The introduction of the model without diesel drive takes place with a clear focus on electrically supported drives. The range of engines ranges from a mild hybrid petrol engine to fully electric variants.

Versatile drive options

The drive options for the C5 Aircross are varied. Customers can choose between a mild hybrid petrol engine with 145 hp, a plug-in hybrid with 195 hp or fully electric variants with up to 230 hp. The fully electric models also offer impressive ranges - up to 680 km combined in WLTP - and are therefore ideal for the needs of modern users.
The specific drive options are as follows:

  • Mildhybrid-Benziner: 1,2-Liter-Dreizylinder, 145 PS.
  • Plug-In-Hybrid: 1,6-Liter-Vierzylinder-Turbo-Otto, 195 PS, 17,9-kWh-Akku, bis zu 80 km E-Reichweite.
  • Vollelektro-Varianten:
    • 75-kWh-Batterie, 210 PS, bis zu 520 km Reichweite.
    • 97-kWh-Batterie, 230 PS, bis zu 680 km Reichweite.

The electrified drives are based on the new Stellantis STLA Medium platform, which not only allows for high flexibility in design, but also ensures that the interior remains spacious, regardless of the drive chosen.

Comfort and modern technologies

The design and comfort of the C5 Aircross are particularly worth mentioning. The C-Zen lounge-style interior offers plenty of space and uses high quality materials including recycled plastics. The new Citroën Advanced Comfort® seats are electrically adjustable, heated and even offer massage functions. The Progressive Hydraulic Cushions® suspension further contributes to a driving experience that is comfortable both in the city and on long journeys.

Technological innovations such as a 10-inch head-up display and Citroën Matrix LED headlights significantly improve visibility. The trunk capacity of 565 dm³, expandable to 1,668 dm³, also speaks for the practical usability of the vehicle.

Citroën plans to introduce the C5 Aircross in key European markets in the second half of 2025. This introduction is part of the company's strategic direction, which positions itself not only as a manufacturer of affordable electric vehicles, but also as a competitive provider in the e-mobility sector. Company boss Thierry Koskas emphasizes that Citroën is focused on providing cost-effective electric cars that appeal to the entire range of buyers.

The upcoming launch of the new generation C5 Aircross reflects Citroën's profound transformation, marked not only by technical innovations but also by a clear commitment to sustainability. The use of lithium iron phosphate batteries, which are cheaper and do not require rare earths, is a significant step in the right direction.

With the C5 Aircross, Citroën is positioning itself at the forefront of e-mobility, while the historical reference to the brand, such as the legendary lighting of the Eiffel Tower, is not forgotten.
