Young chess talent from Ebersberg: master in strategic games!

Stefan Kasims, a 20-year-old chess player from the Ebersberg district, has made a name for himself in the chess community. He has been the district champion for ten years and recently took second place at the Bavarian Youth Individual Championship. Kasims trains at his desk for several hours every day to further improve his skills.

Georg Schweiger, head of the Ebersberg-Grafing Chess Union, emphasizes that Kasims is an exceptional talent. In his chess training, Kasims learned a lot from Schweiger, who holds the title of Candidate Master (CM). It is based on the classic chess style of the Soviet chess school, known for its strategic and methodical play. In addition to his own training, Kasims is also involved as a trainer for children and young people, but does not want this to affect his personal game development. He trains adults in chess theory and analyzes concepts, strategies and ideas with them.

Active participation in the chess community

Stefan Kasims sees chess as one of many hobbies. In addition to his passion for playing chess, he plays various sports. In the Upper Bavaria district league he plays for the Ebersberg-Grafing Chess Union on the top board. He also played in the German Chess Online League against chess grandmaster Rustem Dautov. He prefers to play against human opponents because, in his opinion, computers act emotionlessly. Kasims believes that in complicated positions you can only plan three to four moves in advance, and has a mental database of about a thousand grandmaster games in his head, which he compares with his own games from the last two years.

When preparing for important games, Kasims attaches great importance to solid opening preparation and physical fitness. Among other things, he was able to achieve a draw in Riga against the coach of the former world champion Magnus Carlsen. Despite his success in various youth categories, Kasims strives to become the best player he can be, with the goal of achieving the FIDE Master (FM) title.

The Ebersberg-Grafing Chess Union, where Kasims is active, offers numerous opportunities for playing and learning chess. Information about training times, DWZ rankings of players and the board is available on their website. The club organizes regular internal competitions such as club championships, cup tournaments, series blitz and rapid chess tournaments in spring and autumn. The Ebersberg Rapid Chess Open takes place every year in October. These competitions are open to guests, friends of the club, beginners and hobby players at any time, which further enriches the chess community in the Ebersberg district chessunion-ebersberg-grafing.de can be read.
