Vienna in change: Who takes over the helm after the elections?
The Viennese finance director Christoph Maschek is in the spotlight, since he is to be appointed infrastructure minister as a financial and economic councilor due to the change of Peter Hanke as a financial and economic councilor. According to information that the office of Mayor Michael Ludwig (SPÖ) has confirmed, Maschek is expected to take over the department, but it is generally assumed that it will only be in office until the Vienna election was formed on April 27th.
temporary appointment and commissioning
The official confirmation of this appointment is still pending, but is of great importance for the upcoming political changes in Vienna. Maschek's logging in could take place next week in a specially called municipal council meeting. However, no invitation date has yet been announced for this meeting, which underlines the urgency of the decision.
With the change from Hanke it becomes clear that a lot is currently in motion in Vienna's city policy. The NEOS have already announced the successor to the outgoing city councilor Christoph Return, which also highlights developments in the town hall. These restructuring increase the pressure on the parties to optimally set up their candidates for the upcoming elections, since the Viennese citizens will soon vote.
