Politics, theater and a touch of chaos: an evening full of surprises!

At the Kosmos Theater Vienna on Wednesday, the audience experienced the premiere of “After the Election We're Not So Funny Anymore,” a play by Anna Schober that deals with the confusion in the political landscape. Under the direction of Aslı Kışlal, a mixture of Punch and Judy show and political cabaret was staged, but the content had a certain poignancy. The performance, which took place as part of the Kosmos Theater, was visually supported by Markus Liszt and Nadine Abena Cobbina. As is well known, the theater team had to, how Small newspaper noted, also recognize that dealing with fear no longer fully works in the current context and that some thematic approaches were more confusing than illuminating.

A colorful but superficial evening

The play, which brings characters from children's and young adult books to the stage, offered less substantial content than it initially promised. The majority of the evening slides smoothly through the topics listed without reaching the desired depth. Only the provocative statement "We are not right-wing extremists! We are just extremely often right!" made for some thoughtful moments. Nevertheless, the production is often perceived as more of a production for its own fans, as a serious examination of social issues.

The Gießener Allgemeine also noted that committed programs are still being planned as part of intercultural education and encounters to promote exchange. In particular, the successful concept of the literature café and new formats such as the politics series, which started in January with important lectures, show the effort to create relevant discourse. The Association for Intercultural Education and Encounters plans to continue to present interesting and diverse topics in the new series of events, such as Giessen General reported.
