New splendor for the Bruckner University: Four stars enrich the staff!

The Anton Bruckner Private University (ABPU) has strengthened itself with new, well-known professors for the summer semester of 2025. Among the new faculty members are organist Zita Nauratyill and jazz double bassist Jiří Slavík, who are starting a new chapter at the renowned university in Linz at the beginning of the semester. Rector Martin Rummel emphasizes that the college is significantly enriched by the international experience of these artists, which should further advance teaching and artistic discourse at the university. This happens at the same time as the state competition Prima La Musica, where talented young musicians present their skills.

The ABPU, which is located at Alice-Harnoncourt-Platz 1 in Linz, promotes a creative atmosphere in the areas of music, dance and drama with around 220 teachers and around 850 students. As part of these new appointments, oboist Ivan Danko, principal oboist of the Stuttgart State Opera, was also hired as professor of French oboe. In addition to basic skills, Danko wants to introduce students to the art of ensemble playing, which he will demonstrate in his inaugural concert on April 10th. The composer François Sarhan is also integrated into the ABPU as Carola Bauckholt's successor to help aspiring artists develop their individual artistic voices, especially as part of the upcoming “Leicht über Linz” festival.

New look, new possibilities

The Anton Bruckner Private University, which was founded in 2004 and is based in the new building on Pöstlingberg, not only shows a strong commitment to musical education, but also a clear vision for the future of the music college. With the conversion of the university to modern teaching methods and the integration of internationally renowned professors - such as the composer François Sarhan, who was appointed in the winter semester of 2024, and the jazz personality Jiří Slavík - the ABPU will be further consolidated as a leading place for musical education. Nauratyill also plans to combine the tradition of organ training with contemporary music, which will inspire students in a variety of ways. These developments promise an exciting time for the ABPU and provide an ideal environment for the creative development of talent.
