Mosque in Trossingen: The prayer room is taking shape!

There is a buzz in the heart of Trossingen: The “Trossinger Bildungs- und Treffensstätte” association is planning to convert the restaurant-hotel “Linde” into a Muslim prayer hall! According to information from Schwäbische.de The building authority has now approved the preliminary building application. This represents the first step towards becoming one of the first Islamic places of worship in the city. Mujahid Kahf, the association's spokesman, emphasizes that the legal basis is now in place to take the next step. A notary appointment for the new use is imminent, but this is only the beginning of a process full of uncertainties.

But the plans are still in limbo. Like Kahf opposite Black Forest messenger explained, they are not the only interested parties for the building, which could put the project in jeopardy. The first prayers could take place from summer 2025, provided there is no setback. The space will be transformed to accommodate up to 50 worshipers for weekly Friday prayers and daily prayers, which will require a prayer niche and carpeting.

Integration through dialogue and education

The association also wants to maintain the gastronomic offering and is looking for a new tenant - discussions are already underway with several chefs. The aim is to create a cuisine that corresponds to the religious requirements of Islam, without alcohol or pork. In addition to the prayers, other cultural activities such as Islamic teachings and intercultural dialogue are also planned. The commitment to exchange with the neighborhood is already expressed in the interest in discussions with residents and information events.

The Trossinger local council has taken note of the plans and taken residents' concerns about parking and noise pollution seriously. Kahf assures that a security concept is already being drawn up in collaboration with the authorities to address possible concerns. The club looks to the future with a positive attitude and hopes to turn its vision into reality in the next few months.
