Gurkerl starts fundraising campaign: Opportunities for children in crisis areas!
In March 2025, the online supermarket Gurkerl will launch a significant fundraising campaign called “Giving Opportunities” to support the educational projects of Caritas Austria. This initiative focuses on children in war and crisis areas and is a crucial part of Caritas' current children's campaign, which aims to raise awareness of children's rights and access to education. Loud ots.at Customers can donate directly via the webshop or the Gurkerl app from now until March 31, 2025. The amounts range from 5 to 50 euros, and 100% of every donation goes to Caritas to give children in need a better future.
The Gurkerl campaign builds on the already successful “Caritas School Bread” initiative, which has been supported since October 2024. With a clear mission, Gurkerl not only serves customers with appealing organic products, but also enables them to easily have a positive influence on the lives of children in need. Every year, 251 million children are affected by school exclusion, and Caritas has already supported 156,000 children and young people in 2023.
Together against hunger!
Also in March 2025, Caritas Austria is calling for people to take part in the impressive pickle jar campaign. This initiative asks the public to collect loose change in empty pickle jars to support malnourished children in the Middle East and Ethiopia, such as caritas-wien.at reported. Caritas President Michael Landau speaks of a scandal that 8,000 children starve to death every day and emphasizes that just 7 euros can support a child for a month. The pickle jar campaign is supported by various partners, including BAWAG P.S.K. and the Österreichische Post AG, which act as collection points throughout the country.
The event to open the pickle jar campaign took place in Vienna and aims to motivate people to get involved: whether in the office, at home or when meeting friends - every cent counts! The innovative “pickle jar challenge” on social media also makes it possible to encourage donations by uploading your own videos.
