Big celebration: New cultural and educational center opened in Liebenfels!

On November 14, 2025, the residents of Liebenfels celebrated the opening of the new education and cultural center. The celebrations took place in the new gymnasium, moderated by Antonia Gössinger, the former editor-in-chief of “Kleine”. This impressive project caused total costs of around 6.7 million euros, financed by the federal government, the state of Carinthia, the market town of Liebenfels and the Central Carinthia regional management. The center's architect is the renowned Ernst Roth.

The new education center offers space for around 140 elementary school children and was ceremoniously inaugurated with a musical accompaniment by students from the elementary school and kindergarten. The Liebenfels Music School was also represented with performances, which contributed to the festive atmosphere.

Guests of honor and politics

The guests of honor included prominent personalities such as Mayor Klaus Köchl, Deputy Governor Martin Gruber and Director of Education Isabella Penz. The district governor Claudia Egger and Federal Councilor Sandra Lassnig were also present. The state parliament members Günther Leikam, Josef Ofner, Michael Reiner and Gerhard Mock, the chairman of the Central Carinthia regional management, rounded off the prominent guest list.
