Wolf fights for approval: The will of the voters is being cheated!”

At the center of the controversy surrounding the upcoming local council election in Maria Lanzendorf is the list of former mayor Peter Wolf. As the NOP reports, Wolf's new political force, the "List Maria Lanzendorf", was not approved by the municipal electoral authority for the 2025 election. The reason: a serious formal error. When submitting the necessary documents, the original consent forms were accidentally returned instead of the requested copies.

This glitch turned out to have serious consequences, as the deadline for submission was December 6th. Peter Wolf is now fighting for approval of his list and has already submitted an “application for reinstatement to the previous status” to the electoral authority. This is a legal step to restore the original conditions that he cites in his application. But Wolf, who is a lawyer by profession, sees little chance of success. Even though he handed over the original documents immediately after discovering the error, the election authorities are adamant.

Accusations and resistance

Although Wolf interpreted the decision as a targeted hindrance to his political ambitions, Vice Mayor Christoph Lampert rejected the allegations and emphasized that the documents submitted did not meet the requirements of the Lower Austrian municipal council election regulations. “The will of the voters is, as the Viennese saying goes, simply being fooled here,” says Wolf angrily. He is now planning to contest the local council election himself in order to force a repeat election if successful, as in courier can be read. Experts don't think this is unlikely, which could give the political landscape in Maria Lanzendorf an exciting turn.
