Rieder GmbH invests 14.5 million euros in the factory in Ainet!

Zillertaler Rieder GmbH & Co KG is planning to build a new production plant for windows and lift-and-slide doors in Ainet, East Tyrol. With an investment volume of 14.5 million euros, the production facility is to be built in the industrial area directly on the B108 federal highway. Production is scheduled to start in summer 2026, with the company hoping to help meet the high demand for lift-and-slide doors. Both national and international customers are addressed here. Rieder currently employs over 400 people and is the largest training company and employer in the Zillertal.

“The economic development and the creation of new jobs is a positive sign for our community,” emphasizes the mayor of Ainet. The new plant will create a total of 15 jobs. Philipp Küng will manage the new location, where Rieder wants to implement state-of-the-art manufacturing technology and Industry 4.0 solutions to combine traditional carpentry with the latest technology. Rieder is not only active in window and door construction, but also in the areas of civil engineering, carpentry, timber construction, furniture carpentry and log house construction.

Market conditions in the window industry

The decline in revenue can be seen in both new construction and renovation business. Sales in new buildings fell by almost 9 percent, while in renovations they fell by around 7 percent. Particularly noticeable is the decline in the replacement of windows in single-family homes, which fell by more than 18 percent and reached its lowest level in the last 30 years. Government subsidies were only able to partially cushion the price increase, which increases the challenges for the industry.

Overall, it can be seen that Rieder is pursuing a contrary strategy with its new factory in Ainet, in that the company is actively creating jobs and focusing on growth, while the rest of the window industry is suffering from a shrinking market. Dolomite town reports that Rieder is well positioned in the areas of window and door construction as well as other sectors to counteract this development. At the same time, the report illustrates the General construction newspaper the current difficulties in the industry, which further highlights Rieder's economic success.

Rieder is optimistic that the combination of state-of-the-art technology and robust craftsmanship will make the new location in Ainet a success, thereby supporting its own goals and those of the region.
