Data center in Amlach: Securing data autonomy for the future!
Data security is becoming increasingly important, especially in times when more and more data is being collected and processed. In the municipality of Amlach, the mayor and IT expert Stefan Clara is planning to build a new data center that will be used to secure critical data such as climate data, road conditions and water levels as well as sensitive company data. Clara emphasizes: "We also talk about data autonomy because we ultimately own critical infrastructures that will produce a lot of data in the future. We have to ensure that this data stays with us," as on tirol.orf.at is reported.
IKB was won as a partner for the project, as it already has several data centers in Innsbruck and therefore has the necessary know-how. The location of the new center was strategically chosen: the site is close to TIWAG and is in a cool area, which is intended to improve the efficiency of server performance. Clara is now looking for additional partners from the 33 communities to realize the construction project and at the same time minimize the financial risk. A declaration of intent has already been signed and, in the best case scenario, the data center will also be expanded to the Southern Alpine region, as stated in a report report.ikb.at mentioned.
