Major project at St. Vincentius Hospital: demolition work begins!
An important step for the future of the St. Vincentius Hospital in Speyer: The construction of a new protective roof at the main entrance was completed on Wednesday Rhine Palatinate reported. This eye-catching red structure will serve as an important part of an extensive construction project that is scheduled to begin in spring 2025 with the demolition of the fourth floor of House A1. The aim is to build a new floor after the demolition and to create a connection to the new A2 building and at the same time to set up 37 additional beds for patients.
Financial aspects and schedule
The overall project costs 14.3 million euros, with a large part of the costs - 11.1 million euros - being financed by state subsidies. “With the protective roof, we are taking the first step towards implementing these measures,” said Phillip Nowak, the hospital’s head of administration, optimistically. The construction of larger scaffolding and the upcoming gutting and renovation work inside the building are also planned for 2025. These begin in the eighth calendar week (KW), with a visible start of the demolition work for the fourth floor in the twelfth calendar week, i.e. from March 17th.
This major project is a much-needed step towards modernizing medical facilities in the region. The calendar week also plays a key role here, as the work must be coordinated as planned in the coming months and years. The first phase of the construction project has now been successfully completed, and the continuation of further measures is eagerly awaited.
