Ceremonial groundbreaking ceremony: New elementary school in Floridsdorf gets underway!

On March 17, 2025, the starting signal was given for the general renovation and expansion of the Stammersdorf elementary school in Vienna. The politicians and representatives from various organizations celebrated the start of this groundbreaking project in the 21st district together. The renovation brings with it a modern larch wood facade that blends harmoniously into the surroundings. Innovative energy concepts such as heat pumps and photovoltaic systems are intended to help make the school sustainable and make a greater contribution to climate protection, as already emphasized by education spokeswoman Dolores Bakos (Neos).

Modern learning spaces for the future

In order to meet the requirements of a growing city, the existing building will be converted into a modern, barrier-free spatial concept. During the renovation, recommendations from the City of Vienna - Schools and UIV Urban Innovation Vienna are taken into account in order to actively include the opinions of students, teachers and parents in the planning process. Events such as planning circles and creative workshops promote exchange and a sense of community in order to capture the wishes and needs of everyone involved.

Construction will be completed by summer 2026, with full completion targeted for 2027. After the renovation work, the school will have 22 educational rooms and additional offers for students with special needs. In addition, a spacious sports area with various exercise options will be introduced.
