Drunken driver confuses tracks with street - chaos in Heilbronn!

A 41-year-old woman recently caused an extraordinary incident in Heilbronn when she drove her BMW over train tracks and confused it with a street. After initial investigations by the police, it was apparently an alcoholic driver who turned wrongly on Sunday morning, around 7:15 a.m.

The car remained in the track bed after a distance of about 750 meters and caused considerable damage. A Deutsche Bahn work train was necessary to recover the vehicle from the track bed. Due to the incident, several tracks had to be temporarily blocked, which resulted in impairments in long-distance and regional traffic. The property damage to the BMW amounts to around 50,000 euros, while the damage to the track system is estimated to be a five -digit amount, as the Stuttgart messages reported.

Details of the incident

According to the Rhein-Neckar-Zeitung, no injuries were found during the accident recording. The woman's vehicle was found on the Teresienwiese, i.e. in the immediate vicinity of the route. The track system had to be completely blocked to rescue the BMW, which was a challenge because the workplace with crane from Deutsche Bahn had to be called.

The police took a blood sample from the woman to check her alcohol level at the time of the incident. The blocked tracks should not be accessible for an indefinite period, which also affects rail traffic, as the Rhein-Neckar-Zeitung reported.
