Rollercoaster shock in Europa-Park: passenger waited 40 minutes!

In September, a train on the popular “Blue Fire” roller coaster stopped at Europa-Park Rust. Security chief Can de Haan described this incident as unique. Several factors, including surprising gusts of wind and the weight of the train, caused the train to come to a stop at the apex of the track. The passengers had to stay on the roller coaster for around 40 minutes before they could finally be safely evacuated.

Europa-Park, Germany's largest theme park, took immediate measures to ensure the safety of guests. The train was put back into service on the same day. According to security management, it was a coincidence that could not have been prevented. The reports indicate that sudden gusts could slow down a train. The safety of the 20 passengers was never at risk.

Details about the incident

After the incident, a lifting platform was set up on the railway to control the train. Nobody had to be taken off the roller coaster. The incident differs significantly from a so-called rollback, which is caused by an incorrect process in the system. In April, a Blue Fire train was unable to negotiate a curve and rolled back four times without causing any harm.

Europa-Park invests millions every year in the safety of its attractions, including continuous monitoring and regular checks. The trains of “Blue Fire”, “Voltron Nevera” and other roller coasters are checked daily in a maintenance hall before the park opens. In addition, experts determined that the affected train was technically sound.
