In April 2023, Vienna recorded around 1.8 million overnight stays. This represents an increase of 15 percent compared to the previous year. There has also been a positive development over the course of the year so far, with around 5.4 million guest overnight stays in the city. This data was provided by the OTS published.

The net overnight turnover of the accommodation providers reached around 87.2 million euros in March 2023, which corresponds to an increase of 2 percent compared to the previous year. Since the beginning of the year, overnight turnover has totaled around 226 million euros, which corresponds to an increase of 7 percent. This development is part of a recovered tourism that has increased significantly since 2022, especially 2023.

Sales and utilization

In April 2025, overnight stays were 1,775,000, which also represents an increase of 15 percent compared to the previous year. This increase could also be due to a later Easter celebration. In the year to date, around 5,362,000 overnight stays have been registered in Vienna, which corresponds to an increase of 9 percent. Average hotel room occupancy was around 77 percent in April, while bed occupancy was 59.4 percent.

In the period from January to April, room occupancy was around 59 percent and bed occupancy was 45.4 percent. In April 2024, these values ​​were around 72 percent and 55 percent, respectively. The increase in available hotel beds in Vienna was also notable; in April there were around 80,700 beds, an increase of 5,700 beds (+7.5%) compared to the previous year.

After an almost complete standstill in tourism during the COVID-19 pandemic, the sector recovered significantly from 2022 and remains robust in 2023. The figures for last year show the first year without COVID-19 restrictions with 45.2 million guests and 151.2 million overnight stays.
