Tradition meets technology: Brühler Tischlerei inspires with wood art!
In the center of Brühl, in the north industrial area, master carpenter Manfred Giefer runs a successful carpentry shop that has existed for 19 years. Giefer, who works with three journeymen and two apprentices, has said goodbye to traditional hand tools and is relying on modern machines such as panel saws and CNC milling machines to increase the productivity of his business, reports Cologne City Gazette. Despite these technical aids, the fascination for wood as a material remains unbroken. Giefer and his employees emphasize that processing wood is a particular joy when an oak trunk is used to create an individually made piece of furniture.
Daily challenges and creative solutions
Work in the Giefer carpentry workshop is characterized by creative challenges. The apprentice Benjamin Lissner and his journeyman Jeremias Gebertz emphasize how important it is to bring out the structure and grain of the wood during processing. This passion for the craft is highlighted by grilling sausages during the Friday lunch break - a tradition that brings the team together and lightens up the hard work.
Giefer is not only a master of his craft, but also a well-known inspector and apprentice manager in the Rhein-Erft district who supports young carpenters with problems. Carpentry is not only a place to work, but also a place where creativity is encouraged, be it building bespoke kitchens or creating calming bedroom environments.
