School gardens bloom: with shared strength for sustainable nutrition!

In the heart of Styria, two middle schools have started impressive projects on the subject of sustainability and horticulture, which are now celebrating their first successes. The middle school in St. Georgen has transformed its school garden into a so -called "Groovy Garden", which acts as a showcase project for sustainable nutrition and creative gardening. This innovative approach is not only about planting vegetables, but also about the connection to art and science. Students and teachers are thrilled that they have created a place where everyone can be introduced to nature with fun and creativity. As the NÖN also aims to reduce the greenhouse gas emissions through local food production.

At the same time, the St. Stefan Ob Stefan St. Stefan Middle School also planned its own school garden, which offered actions for pupils as part of the summer semester. After the herbal and vegetable planting in elaborately built, all involved were soon allowed to harvest the first fruits of their work, including tomatoes and salads. The headmistress Claudia Schwarz emphasizes that this not only reflects a great opportunity for practical learning, but also shows how regional companies contributed to supporting the project.
