Saarland starts digital revolution: police modernize with app!

On January 8, 2025, Saarland Interior Minister Reinhold Jost signed an administrative agreement on @rtus cooperation. The signing took place as part of the Interior Ministers' Conference in Brandenburg. With this agreement, Saarland joins a modern case processing system to improve the efficiency, speed and security of police work in Saarland.

A central element of the new system is a mobile app that enables police officers to document events directly on site. The police officers can record, supplement and compare data digitally. In addition, it is possible to scan ID cards and verify them immediately, significantly speeding up the exchange of information. To ensure the protection of sensitive data, security measures have been implemented which, among other things, provide for automatic deletion of data in the event of device loss. This decision is in line with the nationwide Saarbrücken Agenda to modernize police information technology.

Cooperation and synergy effects

The cooperation with Dataport enables synergy effects through joint financing of the development, operation and further development of the system. The aim is to ensure the economic viability and future viability of the technologies used. Interior Minister Jost emphasizes that digitalization increases security and makes the work of emergency services easier.

The @rtus app, which has been used in Schleswig-Holstein since 2007, has established itself as an effective tool for digital process recording. As stated on the Dataport website, the new @rtus mobile app improves the efficiency of police work by allowing data to be collected directly on site via smartphones. The electronic solution also ensures a direct exchange of information with colleagues and enables quick comparison with existing data. The smooth operation and service for the mobile phones are also taken over by Dataport, so that the police in various federal states such as Schleswig-Holstein, Bremen and Saxony-Anhalt can benefit from this system.
