New director brings a breath of fresh air to the Vorarlberg Museum!
The Vorarlberg Museum in Bregenz is facing a profound change: The new director Michael Kasper, who will take over from February 1, 2024, wants to bring a breath of fresh air into the cultural institution. The historian with a doctorate, who has previously headed the Montafon museums, sees great potential in networking with other institutions and plans to incorporate the results of non-visitor research into the museum's future work. According to reports from Culture Online, Kasper won the selection process because he impressed with his extensive networks and his scientific expertise.
A successful year 2023
In the current year 2023, the museum has already recorded great successes: around 50,000 visitors visited the exhibitions, including many children and young people. Over 120 events attracted almost 12,000 people. The focus was on a new museum database and the move of 40,000 objects to a modern depot, as well as on important topics such as commemorating the end of the war and National Socialism. The upcoming exhibition "We were thrilled. Why?" From January 25, 2025, will show how National Socialism was perceived in the region, what of Small newspaper is reported.
Kasper's ideas go beyond restructuring the museum: an internal strategy process for the “Image of the Future 2030” is to be started. The aim is to create a new, flexible exhibition format that also better conveys the country's history. In addition, digitalization should be promoted in order to appeal to all sections of the population and to promote participation in the projects, in keeping with the spirit of the new directorate, which not only wants to rely on state funds, but also wants to focus on transfer funds and new collaborations.
