Creative trainees in the Ravensburg district are taking a stand against racism!
In the Ravensburg district, trainees have the opportunity to use their creativity to make a strong statement against racism and discrimination. The “Yellow Hand” competition, launched by the Construction-Agrar-Environment Industrial Union (IG BAU), calls on all trainees to submit innovative ideas, be it in the form of short films, social media campaigns or exhibitions, by January 15, 2025. “Every idea counts in order to send a strong signal for tolerance and against discrimination,” explains Andreas Harnack from IG BAU. The best entries will be awarded attractive prize money; the first place winner will receive 1,000 euros, the second place will receive 700 euros and the third place will receive 500 euros.
The competition not only promotes the creative engagement of young people, but is also an important signal against right-wing ideologies that must not be accepted either in society or in the workplace. “There is no place for discrimination and racism here,” emphasizes Harnack, making clear the urgency of this initiative, especially in a region where many cultures meet. The Faculty of Catholic Theology also contributes to the fight against discrimination and has adopted a comprehensive Code of Conduct to ensure a respectful and discrimination-free atmosphere in studies and at work. This code stipulates that any form of discrimination, whether based on gender, skin color or sexual orientation, will not be tolerated. Such measures are intended to help promote respectful interaction and actively counteract discrimination, as stated on the faculty's website.
The connection to the topic becomes clear: both the competition in the Ravensburg district and the faculty regulations aim to establish a culture of respect and tolerance. The competition ends on January 15, 2025, while the awards ceremony will take place in Magdeburg in March 2025. These initiatives are a step towards a forward-thinking society that values diversity and conducts discussions in a respectful manner. Further information about the “Yellow Hand” competition can be found on the IG BAU website, while the Faculty’s Code of Conduct can be found on the website of the Catholic Theological Faculty.
