Golden volunteer cards: County of Bentheim honors committed citizens!

A ceremonial handover of the golden volunteer cards recently took place in the Grafschaft Bentheim district, honoring the valuable work of long-standing volunteers. Under the motto “Appreciation – a kit with a future”, District Administrator Uwe Fietzek presented the award, which has now been given out since 2007, to the committed citizens in the Alte Weberei. The aim of the campaign is to reward outstanding commitment and encourage other people to take part in volunteer work. Over 2.8 million volunteers in Lower Saxony, like ems-vechte-surfer.de emphasizes, make a significant contribution to society.

In total, around 50 volunteers received the golden card, which requires them to volunteer for at least three years and five hours per week. District Administrator Fietzek and Mareike Bölle, head of the staff office for engagement promotion, emphasized the importance of volunteering for the community. “They help make our society a little warmer and more humane,” says Fietzek. This appreciative gesture includes not only the certificate and the golden card, but also recognition of their unpaid services in various areas, including the volunteer fire department, several social services and other local organizations.

Commitment to the community

Ingrid Thole, chairwoman of the volunteer agency and deputy mayor, also joined in the words of thanks and emphasized that volunteering is not a question of age or affiliation. “We are all part of this society and can make it a little friendlier with every effort,” she said. The event was accompanied by musical performances from the Schüttorf Music Academy and offered a celebratory setting to honor the valuable contribution of volunteers who work, for example, in emergency pastoral care, in the German Red Cross or in local youth groups grafschaft-bentheim.de reported.
