Feldkirch celebrates one hundred years” – culture with vision and diversity!
Feldkirch is facing exciting changes with the appointment of Maria Simma-Keller as the new head of the arts and culture department. As of October 1st, she will succeed Harald F. Petermichl. The Bregenz native, known for her extensive experience in the international cultural scene, was unanimously selected by the search committee. Mayor Wolfgang Matt emphasized their in-depth knowledge and clear vision for future cultural work in the city, which played a decisive role in the selection. Her previous positions, including at the Austrian Cultural Forum in New York and as project manager for the Biennale Arte Venice, make her the ideal choice for this important position.
The Liechtenstein Palace will be the focus of their work, as the further development of the “Liechtenstein Palace – Heritage and Vision” project will be a central theme for the coming years. The aim is to establish the palace as a “house of discourse” where artists and cultural workers from all disciplines come together. This is complemented by the development of a comprehensive “Cultural Strategy 2030”, which is designed in dialogue with the creative community of Feldkirch. With the appointment, the city has set an important course for cultural development, which, according to Mayor Matt, will have a lasting impact on cultural life in Feldkirch, meinbezirk.at reported.
In connection with the celebrations of the “Feldkirch one hundred” anniversary, a new exhibition is opening in the Palais Liechtenstein. This exhibition will bring international influences and local developments to life and is intended to further enrich cultural life in Feldkirch, as ORF Vorarlberg reports. Maria Simma, who is also active as honorary president of Vorarlberg's professional association of visual artists, has already dealt intensively with the city's challenges and opportunities. With her large network and her enthusiasm for art and culture, she will undoubtedly provide new impulses.
