Dynamo Dresden: Planned investments and major challenges!
Dynamo Dresden is currently in a solid sporting and economic situation. Managing director David Fischer explained the club's current challenges, especially during the training camp in Turkey. A central issue is the buyback of the remaining 50% of Dynamo Merchandising GmbH, which the active fan scene has demanded. This has given the club management an ultimatum until January 19th. Fischer emphasized that the buyback is a question of “when” and not “if,” and that the process has been in the works for two and a half years. Further steps from the club's management are required by next weekend, although the exact date for the buyback is still unclear, but possibly in 2026.
There is also the topic of stadium catering: From July, “Supreme Sports Hospitality” will be the new caterer at the Rudolf Harbig Stadium. Renovation work in the VIP area is scheduled to begin in the summer, with Dynamo investing around 1.5 million euros and contributing to the catering income. Plans to optimize the stadium expansion were also presented later. A second place is considered unlikely due to the high costs of an estimated 80 to 100 million euros. Instead, installing Vario seats in the guest area could provide 1,000 to 1,500 additional seats for your own fans.
Training center and real estate investments
A major concern is the possible acquisition of the “Walter Fritzsch Academy” in the Ostragehege. The existing rent-to-own agreement runs until 2045, but a quicker purchase could save the club interest. Fischer aims to find a solution within the next three months. According to information from Technische Werken Dresden (TWD), the club could buy the training center immediately, which would save a mid-six-figure amount. The buyback would also give the club property that could be used as security.
Fischer pointed out that the old stone house, a former functional building next to the stadium, is also being discussed as a possible office location. The possibility of acquisition is being examined, with the structural substance being examined. Fischer emphasized the club's good economic situation, with resources available for development. However, it is not possible to realize all projects at the same time.
