Bakery Schaefer in crisis: branch closures and in-house renovation!

The Saarland bakery Schaefer, a traditional company with 13 branches, has filed for bankruptcy and is in self-administration proceedings. The step became necessary after the company suffered from sharp increases in personnel, energy and production costs, which led to the threat of insolvency. According to a statement on social media, the bakery wants to secure its future with this restructuring and continue to represent local crafts. The company, which was founded in 1984, currently employs around 150 people and would like to complete the renovation by spring 2025 Sol.de reported.

Branches affected!

One branch of the bakery had to close; another one, in Lebach, will follow by the end of the year. The workers were encouraged to continue their work under a new tenant. Despite the difficult financial situation, the company assures that everything will remain the same for the remaining branches and that customers can continue to count on their orders. “We look positively into the future,” says the statement. The Schaefer Bakery hopes to continue to maintain its branches as an employer in the region Yahoo reported.

In this restructuring process, the bakery will work constructively on solutions that will provide a stable business basis in the long term. The lawyer Dennis Blank has made it clear that the self-administration bankruptcy is aimed at putting the company back on solid ground. Schaefer Bakery is one of many bakeries in Germany that have come under pressure due to economic challenges.
