Post and DHL: Strategies for the race in the parcel business!

Post AG recorded enormous volume growth of twelve percent in 2024, both in the private and corporate customer sectors. This is seen as confirmation of the investments in quality and capacity by board member Peter Umundum. The stabilization of the European market and the growing confidence of e-commerce companies from Asia and the USA have contributed to this growth. Interestingly, the post office adapted its business model and plans to open 25 self-service branches as well as ten post offices and 3,000 reception boxes in Vienna this year ORF reports.

DHL expansion until 2030

Meanwhile, the global logistics group DHL is pursuing ambitious growth goals. The company plans to increase its sales by 50 percent to 120 billion euros by 2030. This corresponds to annual growth of over six percent, which is above average global economic growth. DHL would like to implement strategies in particular in the e-commerce sector and in the alternative energy sector, for example in logistics for medicines and batteries, in order to gain market share Welt.de reports.

The group already has a large share of the express shipping and logistics business with 600,000 employees, but also plans to simplify its structure while maintaining the workforce. In view of the falling letter volume of 12.6 billion letters delivered annually, DHL is increasingly relying on the profitable parcel business, which transported around 1.7 billion parcels last year.
