Chanel presents fantastic resort collection in Hong Kong
Chanel presented his cruise collection 2024-2025 in Hong Kong on Tuesday. The presentation included a mixture of light tweed suits, elegant dive hoods and summer white clothes that put the guests into what the French label described as a "underwater-lined dream". Among the celebrities present were brand ambassador Penélope Cruz as well as the K-Pop star G-Dragon and the Hong Kong actors Chow Yun-Fat and Angela Yuen.
a spectacular fashion event in Hong Kong
The fashion house organized its two catwalk shows-one in the afternoon and one in the evening-in the Hong Kong Design Institute (HKDI). The guests, many of them dressed in complete Chanel outfits, climbed a 60-meter escalator to the upper floors of the building.
creative designs and innovative presentation
The collection, designed by the former artistic director Virginie Viar, included numerous looks. These were presented by models over two floors, while the colorful ensembles, which are occupied with sequins, stood out in front of the distinctive diagonal white wearers of the building.
interactive experiences for the guests
The event included various “activations” on site, including a panel discussion, an exhibition with work by HKDI students and a trailer for an upcoming campaign. In this film, in which the French actress Benjamin Voisin was also seen, Yuen wore compositions from the collection against the colorful backdrop of Hong Kong.
The meaning of cruise collections
cruise collections are portable lines that typically present fashion brands between the two main season of the fashion world (autumn winter and spring summer). Originally launched in the 1960s, these resort collections traditionally stood up to wealthy customers who traveled to warmer realms during the winter months.
strategic expansion in Asia
The Cruise Line 2024-2025 by Chanel was first presented in May in Marseille, France. The decision of the brand to repeat the presentation in Hong Kong shows the ongoing endeavor to address Asian customers, especially in a market for luxury goods that are currently experiencing general weakening.
A trend in the fashion industry
The show took place less than a year after Louis Vuitton's first running train presentation in Hong Kong, which tries to restore its international reputation as a popular goal after years of political unrest and some of the strictest covid 19 travel restrictions worldwide.
Chanel’s future in China
Chanel also plans to preserve in China through Opening to expand further business on the mainland. According to Reuters, the French label had only 18 fashion boutiques in China in May, while competing brands can have between 40 and 50 stores.
Farewell to Virginie VIARD
In June, Viart announced that she was leaving Chanel as the artistic director of the fashion collections after five years. She had taken over the role after the death of Karl Lagerfeld in 2019, with which she had worked for decades. Under her leadership, the income of the brand has increased, the operating results climbed by 11 % to $ 6.4 billion in 2023.
The future of Chanel
A successor for ViaR has not yet been named.
