Discover future careers: Students experience diversity at Weißensee!
On March 13, 2025, a fascinating project day took place at Weißensee, which gave students in the 3rd and 4th grades of the MS Greifenburg the opportunity to explore careers first hand. Under the title “Street of Professions”, 41 companies from various sectors, including public administration, tourism, crafts and medical services, presented their fields of activity in an interactive way. This initiative, launched by dedicated mothers, aimed to provide students with practical insights and exciting experiences. What could this mean for young people’s career choices? The Gailtal Journal reported all of this.
The event was not only a platform for regional companies to present themselves as attractive employers, but also an opportunity to stimulate students' interest in craft and technical careers. The students were able to try out different activities at five stations that were typical of the respective professions and also enjoyed a shared buffet that was prepared under the guidance of local celebrity chefs. The students and their teachers were consistently enthusiastic about the insights into the diverse career prospects that the region has to offer.
Future-oriented career exploration
Parallel to this event, another important project day for 9th grade students is being prepared, which is scheduled to take place on November 4, 2025. According to information from the Erfurter Kreuz Initiative, this day will enable students to intensively explore apprenticeships and academic careers. The students should acquire specific knowledge about the requirements of certain professions and at the same time take advantage of the opportunity to gain practical experience. The focus is on active participation and direct exchange with local company representatives.
Students will have the opportunity to visit up to two companies on the project day and a structured program will be offered including workshops and panel discussions. It is important that the students do not have to complete regular lessons, which gives them more freedom for career orientation. This provides them with an exciting platform to explore their potential dream jobs in more detail and prepare for their future career choices, as mentioned in the event details. The importance of effective advice and preparation is also emphasized here.
