Matschger parade in Absam: Fasnacht celebrates happy comeback!

On Sunday, the big mudzger parade finally took place in Absam after eight years break and the enthusiasm was overwhelming. After months of preparation, not only the participants cheered, but also the ten thousand spectators who experienced the spectacular move on the streets. Wolfgang Spöttl, the chairman of the Matschgerer, emphasized the anticipation of the whole village on this festival. New in the Matschger team are the young talents, such as eleven-year-old Tim Schwaiger, who proudly presented in a Zottler costume that they completed many rehearsals for this event to be optimally prepared.

tradition and preparation

The move is not only a festival of joy, but also an important custom to drive away the winter. Each figure has a special meaning, such as the wax fringe zottler who stand for the dwindling winter, while the mirror luxers symbolize the summer. Behind the scenes, the preparations required a great commitment of the Matschgerer, who have been the sole organizer since 1973. For this purpose, a moving committee is specially made that takes care of security and traffic matters and organizes the advertising for the event, as absamer-atschgerer.at reports.

In order to manage such an extensive event, around 300 volunteers from various clubs and the population work, from folders to catering personnel to the matschger women, which take on a significant part of the organization. Some people have particularly worked out, such as the Speckbach rifle company, who delighted the audience with a creative dance appearance. The highlight of the carnival in Absam will be remembered for the next four years until the next big move is due, as is also reported by tirol.orf.at
