Drones in action: Windracers brings help to Africa!

Windracers and Aviation Sans Frontières have signed a landmark agreement to enable the delivery of relief supplies in Africa using the low-cost, self-flying cargo aircraft Windracers ULTRA™. This initiative will begin in early 2025 and promises to efficiently support humanitarian organizations in hard-to-reach regions. Christian Georlette, Chairman of Aviation Sans Frontières International, emphasized the importance of this collaboration, saying: “We influence people's lives where others cannot or no longer reach”. Flying autonomously beyond line of sight, the ULTRA MK2 drone is capable of transporting medical goods and other urgent supplies to remote locations where there are often little or no roads.

Innovative technology for humanitarian aid

The Windracers ULTRA drone is not only the most powerful of its kind, but also a technological advance for humanitarian aid. With a payload of over 100 kilograms and a range of 1,000 kilometers, it is used in numerous missions around the world. It has already delivered medical supplies to crisis areas, carried out reconnaissance missions in Ukraine and even carried out deliveries to remote forest areas, as {PR Newswire} highlights. Stephen Wright, founder of Windracers, added: “Logistics is the backbone of humanitarian response and we developed ULTRA with the aim of providing cost-effective solutions to the most urgent needs.”

Thanks to the combined expertise of both institutions, drone technology is now centrally integrated into the logistical processes of humanitarian operations. Future cooperation will not only contribute to increasing efficiency, but also increase the safety of humanitarian pilots by removing them from dangerous operational areas. Further details on the first missions are expected from Windracers and Aviation Sans Frontières once implementation of the agreement begins.
